How best to install Vegas Video 2.0b Upgrade?

earthrisers wrote on 11/17/2000, 12:32 PM
In the Release Notes accompanying Vegas 2.0b, it mentions
several folders that can be "left behind" if you install
2.0b over an earlier release.
Does this mean to imply that I should UNINSTALL my earlier
release (2.0) before installing 2.0b?
Or is it best to install 2.0b "over" the old release, then
manually delete the leftover folders?

...or what?

It would be nice if the Release Notes offered clear,
specific suggestions about stuff like this.

You found release notes, oops maybe I forgot to download that. I
just installed to the same folder that Vegas pre-release was in and
it worked great, saved all my preferences and there was no trace in
my control panel of 2 Vegas's being installed, just the latest.

We installed over the old version on two machines with no problem
thus far.

This was done mainly to save the routing/configuration of our
many "defaultX.veg" files and EQ settings that we use instead of
having to rebuild the wheel each time we crank VV up.

We did delete the old "...Setup/Vegas" directory before starting the
new installation though.

I too would like to see clear, concise, nonambiguous instructions and
recommendations in future release notes on this issue. For instance,
the release notes mention "left behind" directories, but there is no
mention as to whether they can all be safely deleted.
