How 'bout export to Flash?

According to Sony's product info, Screenblast Movie Studio, the "cut down" version of Vegas has the ability to EXPORT as Flash .swf files, yet the more recent Vegas 5 does not. It can import Flash, but not export.

This would be a very handy function for web site application - hopefully it's exclusion was an oversight .... I've never heard of having to downgrade to get extra functions!

With respect, I don't find this handy at all and hope Sony doesn't waste time on it with Vegas. Chances are that MOST Vegas users are producting media that is not going to the web -- at least in the form of Flash. There are so many more important things for Vegas to deal with, in my opinion, before adding the silliness of Flash export.

Meanwhile you could use the standalone-version of Wax to export to Flash.

I don't think this would be a major technical endeavor.
I agree it would be nice to have.
My two cents.
It also has use in multimedia work in general which includes a large group of Vegas users.

HERE HERE!!! Let's not forget that when Vegas 2 came out it was very geared for multimedia. For example, it had built in support for embedding commands in Windows Media and Real Media. Obviously that was geared for the web and a lot of early users who helped make Vegas succeed came aboard just for those reasons.

There are many ways to get from Vegas to Flash, but a built in exporter would be great. Problem is... there are at least 3 or 4 ways of using flash to play video.

Bitmap to Vectors (algorithm creates vector animation from video content)
"Simulated Video" which is just flipping bitmaps with non-temporal compression
Flash 5 and earlier temporal compression
Flash MX style temporal compression

So to make everyone happy it would have to support all of the above. I could see myself using each one in different situations.

Yes, I forgot to mention multimedia - I do lots of CD roms and it would be very handy there too.

I don't know which flash/video methods are enabled in Screenblast - I just thought that it wouldn't be too complicated to add what has already been coded for the cut-down version.

Yeah, I want it for multimedia productions and web site content.

Bitmap to vector is just too cool. I've tried it with Wildform Flix Pro. Right now I have an idea of using full screen "silhouette" flash video, one person moving in front of a bluescreen or whatever single color smooth background. Then I can set the treshould and two colors in Flix Pro, one color for background and one for the moving person/s. Veeeeeery cool. It's still doable in Vegas but it lacks the flash vector export.
