I'm trying to save an online realplayer video so I can slightly re-edit it. The video is government public domain footage. Anyone know how I can capture the footage so I can import it into Vegas ?
Have you tried right clicking on the file and see if a 'save as' option is availabe? That's the first step. Then you need to convert to AVI. Vegas can't open Real Movies directly (copyright thing) but it can save as rm files.
A quick search will produce several shareware converter programs, a freeware one TINRA (this is not real anymore) works faily well, but far from perfect which will allow you to convert the RM to AVI.
Check out Camtasia Studio from www.techsmith.com. This works well to record anything you can see (full screen, or an open window). It also works well for lossless screencapture. I used it to build an entire product demo. Chanimal.
