How can I delay buttons showing on menu?

Hello All,

I'm just learning this software so please bare with me! I think this is a fairly simple question.
I have a project that will have a short video (40 sec.) for the main menu that will start when the dvd is inserted into the player. When that video ends, when the screen turns black is when I would like the buttons to 4 other seperate videos to show up. Is this possible & if so how?

Thanks
Dave P.

There are a couple of very easy ways to do this:
1) just set your planned intro video up as 1st play with it's end action linking to your first menu page.

2) stick your intro video together with your menu background video - render one mpg2 file -- set the loop point to where your menu display starts -- select your menu buttons, go to Transformations properties, check "show before loop point" to no. If you plan on using a still background can just drag that still a short way on the timeline in Vegas -- need to be able to set the loop point so links returning to the menu don't play the intro, and you can set the menu end action to hold.

In theory one video should be more seamless at the transition because it's all one video (just 2 different cells) -- however you might compare the transition times on a stand-a-lone player *if* you have a motion background, at the point where the video ends and loops back to the beginning... In my opinion it's a hair shorter using a separate intro video. Of course if the menu is set to hold that's irrelevant.

You'll find more info on how to do it in the help files, but it is really simple.
