Explain a little more, or give us an example.

You want to lock the titles to something moving in the frame or tracking something moving, e.g. a 'thought' that follows someone as they walk down the street?

Maybe he means like the TV show FRINGE? Where a title appears tilted/distorted exactly as, say, the front of a building .. and when the camera moves the title appears to stay in the same place with regard to the building, not the camera view.

3D track motion will do that handily, but it may require a bit of careful keyframing to keep it lined up.

Check out 3D titles (at the bottom of the page).

Either, the best tool is something with a tracker or in your example tracking with corner pinning.

There's a TVC down here where post it notes, bills etc follow people around like thought ballons. The trick that sells the gag is they behave like balloons on a string would.

For a very simple sign on a building and if the camera does move, it moves very smoothly then you can pull it off in Vegas. Beyond that, well for the sake of your sanity you might want to look elsewhere.

Then again you can create the illusion of text floating around objects with masking. There was a good example of this posted by one of the SoFo guys years ago with an early build of Vegas.

Bluff Titler can do what you want. I downloaded the demo months ago, but never really did a whole lot with - I didn't need it. I'm not sure of the cost cause I can't translate the currency. Check it out here: http://www.outerspace-software.com/

There are about a zillion websites that will convert currency for you (I think they price it in Euros) .. but, yes, Bluff Titler is a very nice program .. and well worth what they want for it. I've owned it for a year or two now .. and it's great .. with free upgrades too.

I'm not sure it will do what the original poster wants to do however.

When I read the Subject, I thought of using height map and video of rippling water to make the title "float", but ..... come on hoteldelta, what exactly are you after?

Floating like in 3d space

http://www.zoopy.com/video/2mcw/floating-titling-in-sony-vegas?browse=4u7h

create a 3d parent
inside place your 3d child elements
and you only need to pan the 3d parent for the effect

instead of having a few text layers I placed a card and moved the card around for fun
