One of the things I like about Windows 7 (over XP) is the "Libraries" but when I go to the Explorer in Vegas, the Libraries don't show up. Is there a way to get them to display? It would facilitate easily moving between Photos and Music.
This is probably due to the fact that Microsoft still can figure out how to make a symbolic link (something Unix has had since it's inception in 1969) that behaves like part of the file system.
Vegas allows you to make "Favorites". Just tag your video and audio folders as favorites and they behave just like libraries do. I only use the favorites in my Vegas explorer so that I don't have to deal with the rest of my file system when in Vegas.
> BTW, I'm an old unix guy myself. I use emacs and cygwin on my PC at the office to help my work go a lot smoother. :-)
lol... I still use Ubuntu Linux at the office and run Vegas Pro in a VMware virtual machine. I haven't seen a BSOD in years!!! I've been using Linux on a laptop since 1995 when I was using Slackware and you had to compile your own kernel to get the drivers you needed. Those were the days. :-D
I was really happy when I found the "Favorites" feature in Vegas... until I realized SCS didn't implement it anywhere EXCEPT Explorer. For example, it is not availalbe to any of the operations under the File menu (Open, Save As, Import Media, etc.). It would be extremely useful if the Favorites options showed up in these places and in DVDA. Interestingly, Windows 7 libraries do show up for all of these EXCEPT the Vegas Explorer.
Well, you can use media manager to create a "virtual" favorites system and it does have thumbnails, and some nice other features. But I agree it would be nice to have thumbs in Vegas Explorer. BTW, I submitted a feature request to add Libraries to Vegas Explorer and Vegas Favorites to all the Vegas and DVDA File operations.
