...and make sure your second video track is on the track above the actual video. BTW - have a look in the manual, all you need to know to get started is there. After reading, almost everything falls into place.

Unintuitive and limited... absolutely with a star by it! But I haven't found it to be that difficult to slow down. Simply change the duration field at the top, then grab the right side of the clip and drag until the 'notch' appears.
My problem has been making two separate credit rolls of different lengths scroll at the same speed. Due to the limitation of only 3 styles, I have to move to another credit roll clip when I need additional styles. But making the scroll speed match is a pain. No solution.... Just complaining...
Are there any 3rd party vendors out there writing plugins such as a usable/powerful credit-roll to fill in the gaps that Sony is apparently blind to?
Personally, I tend to prefer making credit rolls with the text generator. Seems to be that the only advantage that the credit roll tool has is text alignment (ie, columns), but that can be faked.
Boris has a great credit roll ability (thats why I bought Graffiti). You can import text directly from Word with unlimited formatting capabilities once the info is imported. They also include some presets which allow dual rolls - for example titles horizontal, credits vertical.
A bit difficult to master at first but well worth the effort in my opinion.
I haven't had a chance to look at Boris since installing the freebie 'teaser' that came with V5.
Can you give me a brief overview of what it does and how it interacts with Vegas (is it a media generator?). Also, I know there are a bunch of variations (graffiti, red, stripped-down something in V5). I've been kinda hoping that one of the next Vegas Tips&Techniques editions will explain all of this and show some uses. But could you give a quick summary?
I am not sure about the Graffiti LTD version that came with Vegas 5. I already have Graffiti and FX so I really did not need the LTD version.
From what I understand LTD operates as a stand alone and not as a plug in. You can still generate effects and render as an avi for import to Vegas though. I suspect this would allow you to do a credit roll. The full version operated as a plug in for Vegas. You launch it from Vegas, do the effect or text work and go back to Vegas. Not as seemless as the media generators included with the program but has a lot of different features. Beware though Rendering takes a long time ( a very long time) with some settings.
Graffiti is primarily a text program. I use it for lower thirds, titles, and credit roll generation. I had a product last fall with a few hundred names for a credit roll and needed to import from word. This is why I bought Graffiti. It could be done in Vegas using media generators but I did not want to spend the time.
Boris FX is the digital effects program. I use it primarily for transitions - some are quite cheesey and and my high school audience loves them. I am still learning this program but am amazed at all of the things it can do.
Boris RED includes everything that Graffiti and FX do but is quite expensive $1500? - the others are like $200 with a little shopping. I believe upgrading from the LTD version is $150?
