How can I view 60i>24p1080 hdv?

Using Vegas 5.0d, I have no problems converting 1080/60i hdv to 1080/24p hdv using the MainConcept mpeg2 decoder set to 23.976 + 2-3 pulldown. The problem is my Athlon 64 3400 isn't fast enough to play the file back smoothly and Connect HD cannot print this file back to my FX1. So I have no way to view the file without converting it to a much lower resolution. There are no other render options that allow me to insert the 2-3 pulldown other than 24p dv. If I just render it as a 1080/23.976p wmv file without the pulldown, it doesn't give the same effect. I also don't want to convert it to a 720/24p+2-3 pulldown mpeg2 file if I don't have to.
So I guess I'm asking what my other options are? Does Vegas 6 give any more options for adding the 2-3 pulldown to 60i hdv files? If there was a way to insert the 2-3 pulldown to a 1080/24p wmv file I would be fine. I considered the I-O DATA LinkPlayer but I'm not sure it can handle 1080/24p m2t files. DVFilmaker will convert to 1080/24p avi or quicktime, but I doubt they would play smoothly either. Any help would be appreciated.

i have no problems playing 1080/24p using media player classic and mid range nvidia graphics card on both a 2.66 p4 and on an amd64 3400 or 3800 .. using mpeg2 19meg/s w/ ac3 audio ..

i can go to much better quality using some custom mjpeg codecs, on2 duck (an old codec) or a few other codecs ...

xvid plays back very smoothly at 1080p , even wmv (though much lower quality should play) .. both at up to 8000 bit rate ..

your cpu is plenty fast enough - but it helps (for mpeg) to have a decent nvidia or ati graphics card .. matrox will not be able to do it no mater how much you try ...

also you can just get a HD card and play it out through that .. they are dirt cheap ..
MyHD MDP-130 or a Fusion HDTV3
you can get the MDP with a dvi output also .

raid or a good drive set up is importaint .. as is your overall system setup ..

Thanks for the suggestions. First thing I'll try is decreasing my bit rate on the 24p mpeg2 file and see if it helps. Do the HD cards perform some sort of hardware acceleration? Do they have component or vga outputs as well?

One thing to be aware of is that Windows Media Player 9 and 10 are incredibly inefficient CPU wise. Media Player Classic or Power DVD will play back HD files on my P4 3.01 that make it just choke completely with the latest versions of Media Player. This really sucks when I try to play back files that have a copy protection bit as Windows Media Player 9 or 10 are needed to register the protection. I have no way of playing back protected files smoothly. Anyway, for your own HD files, Media Player Classic or Power DVD should work nicely.

the HD cards have hardware acceleration (as do nvidia and ati to be fair), but highly optimised i guess you could say (after all - it is just a chip).

they have component out
