How come?

Have just upgraded my computer to quadcore (intel 9550)) and run Vista 64 with 8 GB RAM.
Installed V8.1 (have V8.0c since it came) in order to edit MTS files native (used UpShift for 8.0c).
I have 2 Canon HF 100 and a Pana HMC 151 all PAL.
When i open the MTS files from these 3 cams (1920x1080x12) in 8.1 there is just audio and no video???
Something is totally wrong - but what?
I have searched for hours on this subject but didn´t find anyone with
this problem that just MTS audio and no video shows in 8.1.

I´ve edit several long operas and concerts with those 3 cams in 8.0c with upshift m2t´s and no problems I just wanted to speed it up and perhaps edit MTS natively.

In 8.0c the same MTS files show both video and audio on timeline.

If I convert with Upshift to m2t I can see and edit the m2t files in 8.1
BUT
When I render a short 2 minute test project with a couple of crossovers and clips to mpeg2 (DVD template)
8.1 takes 2,17 minutes (if not an error occur which it does often)
8,0c takes 1,20 minutes exactly the same project.
Something must be wrong with 8.1 - at least in my computer.
Any comment would be most appreciated.

As said before in another post, I suspect that 8.1 is the OLDER version of Vegas 8 written as 64 bit because it certainly shows some of the bugs found in previous vegas versions.

In my limited experience if you have audio-no-video then it's a codec you are lacking.
Since 8.0c works, must be that you don't have the 64 bit codec needed for your media.
Try this one. It's free.

No. This was tested already in the link. Can't speak for absolute certainty with regard to 8.1 but it surely was a bug in the link provided.

I'm on an XP-64 system. Opened VP 8.1 - it didn't read any third-party plugs. Haven't opened it since.

Thanks for replies.
If it is a bug why do so many report that 8.1 works great and they
can edit MTS files and render very fast.
Could it be a PAL issue?
Any PAL forum members using 8.1?
I don´t use other fx than those in vegas.
I´ve tried to reopen 8.1 as been mentioned in other threads with no luck.
I have a "clean" new computer - with programs just for editing and burning - no internet - I´m writing this on another computer.

If no video shows on timeline when loading MTS files
I don´t call it a bug it must be a huge fault. A missing codec sounds
understandable but why should just my V8.1 not contain all needed codecs - its newly installed.

Another thing - when I render upshift m2t files from canon HF 100
on 8.1 it goes much faster than rendering upshift m2t files from
Pana HMC 151.
I´ve read that Vegas don´t like panasonic MTS files and it seems that even goes for upshifted m2t files from Panasonic MTS.
And as I said on 8.0c everything works fine but I have to use upshifted m2t files.
