Most of those are created using After Effects or other compositing programs. However, Vegas can create these just as easily, excepting for the 3D images.

The ones like TealSwirls in the page you referenced and most of the ones in Vol 2 Organic Backdrops like Blue Lines were done with either Axogon Composer (free) or MainActor. I have a tutorial on my web site that takes you step by step through how to create these with the free Axogon Composer. It’s quite easy (and the price is right!).

Vol 5 Pyromations and most of Vol 6 AcidDrops is almost entirely from the stock libraries of ParticleIllusion 2.0 SE which only cost $99 (and Digital Hotcakes wants to sell you a few renders for $149 and $119 a volume!). A rip-off if you ask me. I wouldn’t mind if they created something new but these are the original libraries that ship with ParticleIllusion. Just buy ParticleIllusion 2.0 SE and create hundreds of these yourself simply my pressing the render button. You can also get particleIllusion 2.0 SE for free from the August 2003 backissue of Digit Magazine #64.

The ones in Vol 4 Aquadrops like Night Pool and Pink Morning were probably done with a 3D application like 3D Studio Max or Cinema 4D, but they can also be done with Vegas 4 using bump mapping and Satish’s PluginPac 3D. These take a little more work to produce yourself but you can download my veggie file for how this is done at the Sundance Media Group site. Download the OceanWavesNClouds veg file from me (author=Johnny (Roy) Rofrano) and you’ll be generating all sorts of seascape backgrounds yourself for free with just Vegas 4. You can see an example of the output on the VegasUsers.com site.

The rest of the Digital Hotcakes are very well done but most are recreatable on your own with just a little effort and the software I mentioned. And never underestimate the power of Vegas 4 Noise Texture Generated Media!

Johnny, where do you find Axogon Composer for free? I went to the Axogon website and there's no place to get it from because they've handed it to MainConcept.

Try and do a Google search. It's getting harder to find as the years go by but its still out there. The file is called axcom093.exe. It looks like Bricksinmotion.com has a copy in their Yahoo group. You need to join the group to get access to it.

Ahh....I keep forgetting about Axagon! I've lost my .exe file somewhere and I can't get up.

Spot, let me understand this correctly, you lost your EX, and you can't get it up? At lease you were able to get rid of your EX, I keep trying the the delete key with regional edits enabled and have no luck. I guess we all have crosses to bear.

The "mute" on the remote control doesn't work either.
