How do I blur one section of mask?

Hi everyone.

I'm about 3 weeks into my masking tool career with Vegas Pro 17. It was a big jump up from Movie Studio 11. I'm trying to solve a problem I have working with the masking tool.
I know how to add the different blurs to my mask in FX section. But I can't figure out how to blur just one section of the mask. I'm trying to remove one part of a shadow but don't want blur the other sides of the mask at the same time.

Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Could do a frame by frame follow of that mask with the Pan/crop section mask, just over the area you want blurred and apply fx to that mask.

So, duplicate the track. Let this new track (with pan/crop mask) sit on top. Trace the mask frame by frame, making any necessary adustments.

You'd make the mask "negative" (only mask area show through, everything else becomes alpha channel) and apply fx to mask. Theoretically, anyway.

Thank you Fred. I'll give that a try and let you know.
Appreciate your time.
