For HD at least, I don't think it's possible. You just right click on a clip in the media bin and drag it to the timeline. When you do the dragging with right click, a menu will popup where you can tell it to only load the video.

Is there some kind of trick that allows you to remove the audio from a clip in the media bin instead?

Not in the media bin (that I know of) .. just bring the file to the timeline. UNGROUP the audio from the video and you can then delete ONLY the audio track.

I'm aware of that, but thanks brighterside. I'm looking for an alternative because I'm teaching a class on Movie Studio and I just want there to be very simple video-only clips that the students can then match up with some music, so they can learn the basics.

Anybody know any tricks to make that happen?

Uhh, you should be able to select "No audio capture" in your menu properties when capturing your video in Vegas Vidcap. Does that help?

musicvid, that's not an option when capturing HDV footage in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum.

Sorry. That option is available for DV capture.

Alternatively, you can mute the audio, ungroup and delete the audio track, or follow one of the suggestions above.
