How do I change the speed?

This seems like such an easy thing but I get something all screwed up. If I right click on the video and change the speed to 2.0 it does not change the audio so now they are out of sync. If I right click on the audio and change it to 2.0 times normal speed, now the it is half the time (as it should be) but the again not in sync with the vido which is still the original speed and duration.

Why is something so simple so hard to do?

It seems like at some point you have ungrouped the audio from the video. Or were they separate to begin with?

What would probably be easier is to group the two together (select both and press G), then Ctrl-drag the right end of either to the left to "squish" it. This will affect both tracks simultaneously. You may not get exactly 2.0x speed, but you can squish or stretch while the video is playing and get it to the speed that looks good to you, whether it be 2.0 or 2.10389 or 1.9304 or whatever. If you do want exactly 2.0x, you could position the cursor at the spot where the clip should end first, then when you Ctrl-Drag the movement will snap to the cursor when you get close enough.

Thanks I'll try this. It seems as soon as you make a split somewhere they are all ind files. Is this wrong?

Dang I forgot there isn't a notification here (how lame!)

Yes, they do seem to become independant. If you're thinking about it while splitting, it's a good idea to select the separate audio & video pieces and regroup them after splitting.
