Hey all!

Curious to know how to create a similar video in vegas but i'm not sure what the right language is to find out how to do it or what plugin to use. Sorry if it's not in the right area.

How do I create a video like this:

The floating body image over a Popsicle, I think its a neat way to do Announcements. How can i replicate something like this?

You create the image in a bitmap editor, such as Photoshop or GIMP, while keeping the space between the body and the Popsicle fully transparent, and export it as a PNG bitmap.

You import the PNG as media in Vegas and move it, size it, rotate it, all with the Pan/Crop thing built into Vegas.

Almost there...

1. Make your image in a photo editor like photoshop or gimp. Make sure to cut out the person, on another layer bring in an image of a popsicle stick and move it underneath the image of the person. Line them up so it looks like the popsicle stick is coming out from underneath the cutout of the person. I can't tell you how to do this in other programs, but in photoshop, if you right click on the layer of the person, go to blending options, add a stroke and make sure it is colored white, and set the thickness to the desired amount, you will get that white outline effect you see on the cutout of the person.

2. Export this image as a PNG, make sure your background is transparent before exporting. If you have a white background layer, make sure to hide it by clicking the eye icon next to the layer in photoshop. You will know you have a transparent background when it appears as a checkerboard on screen in photoshop.

3. Import into Vegas and do as described above with keyframing the movements using the track motion button.

You could technically replace the still image with a video of a person with a green screen behind them, and then use the chroma key effect to key out the green screen, that way the person on the popsicle stick would be moving as they spoke.
