I just use the credit roll plugin under the Text Effects tab. It is pretty easy really. If you need to cut and paste in a bunch of lines make sure you have a tab between columns. Otherwise, it's pretty self-explanatory.
Click on the Text/Backgrounds tab at the bottom of the screen. Click on Credit Roll in the list on the left side. You should now see a bunch of credit roll presets. Probably Scrolling on Transparent is the best one to start with.
Use the search feature of this forum and type in "credit rolls". I found the credit rolls to be a PIA and not very intuitive at first. It was also rolling too fast even when I stretched it until I found out how to slow it down more. The previous posts helped me out a great deal. Print them and file them under "credit rolls".
