How do I customize the UI colors?

How do I customize the UI colors that are not accessible through the Options menu? Note that I have even opened the Internals tab using the Shift+Options, but I have not found what I am looking for.

Specifically, I want to change the color that is used to highlight menu items. I am really not keen on the bright blue that is currently used. Furthermore, I would like to tweak the window background colors, etc. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

You have to do this in windows... and it will change the way everything looks- every program and every window within Windows.

If you right click on your background image and select properties, there should be an option there for it. If you are using XP you will have to use the windows classic theme to do this.

Another alternative would be to buy something like Window Blinds.

Jeremy, Thanks for the quick response but when you are using the Vegas Color Scheme, Windows has absolutely no influence whatsoever.

My question still stands: How do you I customize the UI colors for the Vegas color scheme? I know there is way because it was done before (by Vasst maybe?).

Maybe it would be a bit better if you gave a specific example of something you want to change the color of. I use Windows to color Vegas and like it much better than even the new look in V9. My look is a charcoal look that I like very much.

If vegas is set for "system colors" then go into windows advanced appearance settings and change the "3D OBJECTS" colors. This will change the color of Vegas's interface. Be aware though that it will also change the interface color of other programs set for "system colors"

Thanks Erik, I do know that if I use Window Themes to control my colors I can get exaxtly what I want. However, I want a specific look for Vegas that is different from the theme I have customized for my general computer activities.

Here is a specific example. I like the new Vegas look but I do not like the blue menu highlighting. I do not want to modify my XP theme and if my memory serves me right, I believe there is a way to modify the Vegas colors independently from XP.

Windowblinds
This will allow you many customization options for 1 or all of your apps.
I've used it on all of my workstations so I can switch up the GUI of various apps and Windows periodically. (just to keep it fresh) I used it religiously to make the Vegas UI 'darker'.

I have NOT noticed any hit on my computers resources nor have I experienced any adverse problems.

Thanks Sync, I will check out Windowblinds. Glad to hear that you have successfully used this tool to modify the Vegas colors. I have not heard of it until now.
