I don't know about that listing in the index .. what I do is take an jpg by using the icon at the top of the preview window. Then I use that jpg to "freeze" the movie for however long as I want.

Normally, the 'real' movie continues playing and you hear the soundtrack .. but you only see the still photo since it is in a higher track and takes presidence over the lower track.

If you want the movie to resume at the break point .. you'll need to split the movie and then drag the right side (after the break point) to the right so that it continues after the still image ends. You'll need to fill in the sound with something (or not, it's up to you) If you do this you can insert the still image on the same track as the rest of the movie.

You can insert a velocity envelope (if they are available in Studio) and drop the velocity to zero at the freeze frame point

Velocity envelope is only available in Full Vegas. But the Still Picture is working very well in this case.
Just remember to set preview to Full and Best before saving the still.
If you overlap a little (1/2 sec) the scene seems to stop (and start) not so abruptly.
