how do I hear what i am recording with the background music?

I am recording new tracks to accompany tracks that I have already laid down, however I cannot hear the new tracks that I am recording... any suggestions? M audio delta44

Vegas does not do internal monitoring.

You can use a mixer to monitor or set up the Delta card to monitor inputs from its control pannel app.
