hi - i am new to movie making..i have made a few DVDs from video and pics from vacations...

Now, i have the bug and want to learn more. My questions:

1) where can i learn to shoot better video? ie techniques, lighting, angles, etc...

2) where can i find out about buying the right video camera, accessories, etc..?

3) How can i learn to better edit video? that is, using slo-mo, picture effects, transitions, etc...

I will never be making movies based on script and actors, just vacations, weddings, special occasions, etc...

thx!!

Besides just playing with every option in Vegas Studio, here's a few links I found helpful:

http://ether.asu.edu/video/tips_lighting.html

http://ether.asu.edu/video/tips_bluescreen.html

http://www.rondexter.com/

Also, I bought a Vegas Studio book, can't remember the name of it right-off, but it was good. It was for version 4, but most all the stuff works in version 6 too.

And oh, as far as doing slow-motion, if you right-click on the video track and go to Properties, then..umm, I don't have Vegas with me now, but change the setting that has 1.0 in it to something like .75 or .50 and it will play it slower. Change that setting to 2.0 and it will play it in fast speed.

I personally always do a short title at the beginning of each video and a short credits, with at least the date the video was made. That way, 50 years from now, your grandkids can look back and know when this "old" video was made.
