Try adding the brightness and contrast filter to the event with the dark footage. If that doesn't give you the look you need, there are at least half a dozen other color correction filters- all explained in the manual and the online help.

Try color curves. Using the RGB mode (all three colors tied to one), I am able to lighten up the shadow regions of my video with precision. I needed to do this for outdoor scenes where the subject was in shade & the sun was very bright (a very common problem/mistake). With color curves, I am also able to decrease the burn of the over exposed sunlit areas. Now, I use color curves with a lot of my footage. It is a very helpful tool!

Just a reminder that no color correction should ever be applied without using a calibrated video or computer monitor to judge the adjustments. Computer monitors can be calibrated using "Colorific" from www.Ecolor.com or this is even better, but costs more: Colorcal.com
