There's some useful info at VCDhelp, though it begs the question of how you should produce your MPEG-2 files. Ahead talk about MPEG-2 SVCD and DVD plugins, but only the SVCD version seems to be available. I like Nero, but Ahead are bad news when it comes to promoting vapourware!
It's a bit late, now that the DVD-R's been bought, but there's another approach - get someone else to do it! Does anyone know of a publishing shop in the UK who'll produce DVDs from MDV tape at a sensible price? Right now I'm keeping things on DV tape as it's the highest quality I can get - I'd love to have them on DVD though, preferably at a price less than a new DVD player!
Oh, and another question! How do the VF MPEG-2 plugins compare to, e.g. TMPGenc?
Mike, I wasn't fishing - honest! Given the way that the prices of h/w and media are dropping I doubt that anyone doing what I want will carry on much longer, at least not commercially. It's all about adding value now, and that's the bit I want to do myself.
I'm not against the idea of putting people's dv onto DVD for them. I can always do with a little extra cash to feed my adiction (gadgets!!). As most of the work (rendering) will be done while I'm not at home anyway it's shouldn't take over my life too much.
As I said, I'll see what's required and maybe post a message on here later.
