How do I make "media generator" template?

Greetings,
This is my first posting ever. :)

I am in the process of learning Vegas 4.0 and would like to know how to add templates to "Media Generators". That is, I generated something using the 'Text' template. It is now in "Media Pool", labeled "Sony Text 3". I like the result and would like to create similar generated media in other projects with the exact similar look/design, but with different text. How do I do this?

Thanks in advance!
John

In the field at the top of the Text creation window, type a name that is meaningful to you, then click on the Floppy icon to the right of that. You now have a preset to use whenever you want.

Thanks, Peter. That's exactly what I was looking for.

However, I do exactly as you described, but when I re-open that dialog box ("Edit Generated Media") I don't find in the listbox what I saved only a few seconds ago... The original list (as came with the installed software) remains exactaly the same.

What am I doing wrong?

Don't know what you did wrong, but I just read your reply and did the following:

1. Dragged a thumbnailed text event from the docked Media Generator window to the timeline. The Text Window opened.

2. I changed the font to "Curlz MT", changed the size, colour and placement.

3. In the Preset field at the top, I typed "Curlz Yellow" and clicked the floppy icon.

4. "Curlz Yellow" now appears as an item in the drop down Preset list, AND as a new Thumbnail in the Media Generator / Text window.

hope this helpz......
