How do I rejoin sections that I previously split?

Hi, I split some of my audio track (by pressing S), but I put the splits in the wrong places. When I zoom in to fix the bad splits, I can butt the split sections up against each other, but they still behave as independant sections, and are making it very hard to apply my transitions.

Since pressing "J" for Join doesn't work, how do I go about making Vegas forget that I had split them (an undo is to late at this point)?

Thanks for any suggestions you can provide me,

Jon

Okay .. deep breath . . Here we go:

1 - You are sure with the butted audio? You like it? Okay do a Group. This works for video. Can't see why it wont with Audio too.

2 - Can you re-import from original?

3 - Easiest is to re-stretch the clip so you get the correct length - ie NO repeats.

4 - What's the "J" for join . .don't know this one? I know J as part of the JKL scrubbing procedure ..

Others will have their own ways of doing this .. hopes this helps,

Grazie

Grazie,
Please allow me to expand on your point 3:
You have 2 events or clips as a result of the faulty split. Select one of them and delete. Pull at the other one to cover the space left open.
The beauty of NDE - Non destructive editing.

Hehe, I tried the "J" for Join in hopes it would counteract my faulty splits, but it didn't work. :)

Thanks a ton for that, Tor; I've got an appreciation now for the way in which this thing really works. Much appreciated.

It's actually "P"....for "Put back together".

If you want an automated version of the process, Excalibur has the "Unsplit Wizard".
