How do I separate video from audio in an mp4 file?

Hello. I made a video with this software and uploaded it to Facebook, lost the original and downloaded it back from Facebook in mp4 format. I need to separate the video and audio tracks for editing purposes as at present it's on the same track. Could you please tell me how I can do this?

Also, as the quality has changed, will rendering the finished film for internet improve the quality a bit?

Thanks for reading.

Facebook has changed the quality, but not for the best. What do you mean both the audio and video are on the same track? Video should be on a video track and the audio should be on a corresponding audio track.

Thanks for your reply.

When I opened the file in trimmer it's not separated into video and audio. I can isolate audio or video by selecting video only or audio only but at the moment I can't make two separate tracks in another version. Is there a way to copy and save then paste into another file?

Are you wanting to ungroup the video and audio tracks in the project? If so, right click one either, choose Group, then Remove From. Or just use the keyboard shortcut U.

If you need a separate audio file, do a Render As then choose an audio template such as MP3 Audio or Wave (Microsoft).
