The possibilities to emphasise text in Vegas is so overwhelming that if you were to underline it too, you would simply blow away everybody but the most hardened viewers of hard-core typography.
They didn't supply underline.
They did, however, supply the possibility to add all kinds of fonts and symbols - typographic or - not in layer upon layer until you can't see the forest for trees.

Why do you want to underline text?

I'd like to underline the title of a person and put their name under it. Like a credit screen at the end on a movie

Just make a line in photoshop or something and then use that as your underline. Or just type ________________ on another track and position it as you want to.

Obviously that wouldn't be so easy with scrolling text.

What would be nice is a way to add a graphic to scrolling text.

Thanks, that's a good 'trick'. I'll try dat.. although it would be thought if my end-credit has to scroll up.

Well if you use both if them as scrolling texts, and they are lined up to start with, and they are both the same length then they should scroll in sync.

How's better then you Jsnkc?

NO BODY!
Thanks

I have never actually tried that method before, but it logically seems like it would work. Let me know if it doesn't and maybe there are other things to try.

Okay - Gloves Off time! You are dealing with Film - Film is great! You ca n do the most amazing things with this stuff . . . If you want to impress on the view a "statement" then think of something other than transfering "text" to the screen. It's hard and it requires a lot of sensitivity - BUT the rewarsd are great . . . try thinking about the people who are going to view your work . . .what would tickle them? What type of "puns" or current news could be used to "underline" what you are putting up there . . . okay, okay . . I'll calm down now . . .but really? . . underlining on FILM! In all that is Felini [ I DON'T Care if I splet it wrong . . ] or Eric Gil [ Gil Sans yes? ] PLease PLease do something else . . don't use the expected . . . . NO I haven't calmed down! . . Not yet! . ... . phew . . .ch i l l l .. . . .[ Grazie takes yoga position and thinks calm thoughts and straigthens wig . . . that's a joke!! ] . . . . .

Regards,

Grazie

I'm with you Grazie, even though you spelt Gill wrong, too. What's that with you and the Ls?
Besides, there are fonts that are underlined to begin with. Think about it another way: Why would SoFo leave out underlining in their text generator? And then another another way: Why on earth would they NOT leave it out?
Beacause - like Grazie is implying - it it typographically uninteresting PLUS if you must have it, it is easily achieved in ways that have already been described in this thread.

I knew, I knew someone would jump on my GILL okay! - Yeah? - BUT who KNEW it was ERIC eh?!? - When he was a Stone Mason he shocked the passers by in London, when he was High up on the front of the new BBC building, and was chipping away at the stone, in his Smock, with appreantly nothing underneath ! ! !
