Only one? Lower your velocity envelope to 0%. Copying the frame would be another, and there are scripts that will make that easier.

This was recently discussed, again, in great detail. Do a search using the words "freeze frame."

I like to insert a still frame snapshot on the timeline. It’s a bit time consuming to do manually, but the Ultimate S script plug-in from VASST has an Insert Snapshot on Timeline function that does it in one click.

umm okay i have vegas version 4 and i don't have a button on the preview windown that captures the frame i'm in. where is it at? is it on vegas 5?
jetdv wrote on 12/31/2004, 1:31 PM
Vegas 4 has the save snapshot button exactly the same place as Vegas 5 (and Vegas 3...) - just above the preview screen.

In Vegas 4 it will NOT be active if external preview is turned on. That could be your problem. That quirk was also eliminated in Vegas 5.

Turn off Preview on External Monitor (if it's on) and the Save Snapshot to File... icon will be enabled. It is the right-most icon above the Preview window and looks like a diskette.

You can also grab the edge of the 1 frame you captured and drag it as long as you need it. No need to lay down a hundred stills in order to have a couple of seconds of video

I would like to see a simple hit of the keys (for example) ctrl+f to freeze the clip from the point after where the cut line is parked, and also something like ctrl + b to freeze the clip before the cut line on the other side. Then just extend the still clip at will.
It would be a good refinement to Vegas.

Another way -

1. Make sure the event ends with the chosen frame
2. Right click on event, select Create subclip
3. Right click > Switches > uncheck Loop

Dragging will now extend with a still frame as far as you like.

Thanks that worked well. For now, that will be the way I'll do it - now just to get that to a quick key.
I have a TV program that has many stills every show, so for the post edit - I crave a key to hit evey time a still is needed.

thanks

Peter, thank you very much for the tip. I've been wishing Vegas could do this for ages, and it was there all the time. Excellent!
