Ok, so if I run Vegas with admin rights, then it works.

I know it worked yesterday as a limited user though - pretty lame.

bug1: the default capture folder suggested by the program doesn't even exist on my machine. Nice ugly error message if you try to capture.
bug2: when you browse to pick a new capture folder, it doesn't automatically get selected in the Capture Folder box.
bug3: the capture app no longer works as limited user - dunno what changed. Why are apps so bad with this? C'mon Sony, get with the program! (And not even any kind of error message, just silent failure).

Most of the 'bugs' sound more like Windoz issues than Vegas problems. Remember that Vegas is a 'well behaved' windows app, sometimes that can cause a bit of grief when the OS has other ideas.

They seem like Vegas bugs to me - not sure why it would have anything to do with windows.

I put Vegas under the debugger and saw it was trying to open this file under my user profile:
Application Data\Sony\Vegas\6.0\Sony_Capture_Capture.settings

I deleted that file, and now it works fine again.

I'll post again if I can find out what it was in particular that was causing the problem.
