How do you change the speed of a transition?

I mean that as in, when I preview a transition it goes nice and slow. But when I add one to a clip, it goes by extremely fast. Solution required.

The speed of a transition is dependant on it's duration, which is dependant on how much one event overlaps another.

Change the overlap to change the speed.

Slide the second clip to the left so that it's overlap with the first event is longer.
