How Do You Keep Colors When Compositing

dave.r wrote on 11/18/2013, 5:13 AM
When layering two videos I only get one to keep it's color, the other goes black and white

i've tried all manner of Parent/Child, Compositing Mode and Mask Generator combinations

is it not possible to layer 2 or more videos all with color in VMS Plat 11?

thx!

p.s. i have read the manual, but the compositing explanation seems incomplete to me

Color is passed unless you've done something to change it. Maybe if you posted a screenshot of your workspace . . .

There are a variety of compositing modes, some of which ignore certain color aspects of the image. Masking modes in particular masking modes only look at one channel of the image, whether it be a transparency layer, a single color, or a B&W combination of the three colors. However, normally the mask only effects the image being used as the mask while it should pass the full colors of the image underneath.

It almost sounds as if Dave is doing it backwards, applying the mask effect to the lower image rather than the upper one.

Really interesting music - as you say: A video that sounds better looks better!

What program do you use for the curves in the lower part of the video?
