So how do you tell if this package is any good from the demo? I started to download it until I read all the restrictions. Basically no saving of any kind. In any other software category that would be fine, but in my short time with NLE software the one thing that seems to be the most trouble is getting a decent file produced. I have VW4, and it's great until you try to do something more than 15 minutes. I'm trying VideoStudio 6, and it's not bad, but the vcd/svcd quality is not to hot. Writing back to DV tape was hit or miss. So the one thing I really want to test is disabled. I can learn to live with a quarky interface, but I need to know how good are the save options? By good, I mean work reliably and mpeg/mpeg2 compare favorably to other options in the same price range. I understand you have to buy the mpeg2 capability as a plug in? Is the quality worth it or should I just use TMPEGenc? I would really like to have that functionality built in, but if the quality is bad I would buy TMPEGenc which I am also currently testing. Videostudio seems to be the closest to a full package, but I'm not totally convinced because of the weak svcd produced, and the slight glitches in writing back to tape.
How do you really know?
