Any time two events overlap, they will automatically crossfade (unless
you choose a different transition). Simply UN-overlap them, and they
won't be crossfaded anymore.

If you want to have the second event start before the first one has
finished, you'll need to pull in the end of the first event to the point
where you want the transition, then you can butt the second event to it.
