How do you render multiple .veg project unattended

Rich Parry wrote on 11/20/2009, 8:43 PM
I would like to render multiple projects in multiple format unattended. For example, I would like to setup a batch job consisting of 10 .veg projects and have each of the projects rendered in .mpg and mp4 formats.

Ideally I would setup a batch job before going to bed and upon waking up find I have 20 video files (10 .mpg and 10 .mp4) based on the 10 .veg projects.

I thought Production Assistant would do this, but after downloading the demo, it doesn't appear to have that functionality. I think I saw a way of doing it on Vegas Pro YouTube tutorial, but is was kludge IMHO.

help appreciated,
Rich

I've never done this, but "in theory" you could nest all the projects in a new single veg, then use Prod Asst. to render - you may possibly have to create regions first, or simply nominate the nested vegs as source files.

Good luck!

Buy yourself the Veggie Tooolkit from Peachrock Productions, job done.

Well, there'd be a couple more steps after buying it, but the multi-render tool in Veggie toolkit does exactly what the original poster (OP) is asking.

And if you don't want to buy anything but instead use what you've already got (ie. Vegas), simply open up Vegas as many times as you have renders to perform, load a .veg in each instance, and set them all to rendering. Normally as i start each one i'll go into Windows task manager and set it's priority to below normal. That way the instances i haven't started yet are still snappy and responsive. I've had over 12 going at once with no trouble.

I'm not sure why you thought that Production Assistant could not do this but it's one of it's primary purposes. Just select the option to process individual files, load the .veg files into the file list and select your render options. You should have asked a question on the Production Assistant forum. I'm always monitoring over there.

You can also do this with the Render tab of VASST Ultimate S Pro. Same deal... load the projects into the file list and selected the render templates that you want to use and let it process.

Easiest way is to use the Sony Vegas Network Render service.
It works great even for stand alone machine. Keep on submiting all the job by enabling "Render using network Computers" .
Make sure Network Render service is started.

I use this technique frequently
