The Boxx system we used as a demo at NAB is slightly less powerful than the one we they are currently building (the shipping version has 2 gig dual procs and a gig of ram). That NAB machine could do a track of DV video with crossfades, plus two title overlay tracks, plus 8 tracks of .wav audio with the 3 default audio fx enabled for all tracks, and play it all back at 29.97 in the internal preview window. When working with Boxx in designing this package, that was the goal- play the above back at locked 29.97. Renders really fly too.
This was the best performing machine I have used Vegas on. Boxx does a really good job with configuration and support, so there's no laying on your back monkeying with jumpers, cables and slots for hours on end. If you want something that "just works", the Boxx system is worth a close look.
I also have a Dual 1900+ system and 768 megs of ram but am only getting 15 to 18 frames per second rendering to DVD. You couldn't give us some system tweeks to increase the rendering speed. Takes about 3 to 3 1/2 hrs to render a 1hr 40 min movie. Is this normal, above average, or below average.
Thanks Barry
