How Import Ac3 Files

Since Vegas 4.0 supports export of AC3 format, why doesn't it allow the import of them?

I've tried everything, but Vegas doesnt recognize .ac3 files as media.
I changed them to .wav, but Vegas says unrecognizable format.

Is there a plugin needed?

I can't tell you why VV doesn't support ac3 import, but I know from watching this forum that it doesn't.

I use a program called BeSweet to convert ac3 to something else, and then import that. The program was a free download.
