How long does it take to burn a dvd?

I'm real new to the whole dvd/editing thing. Made a short 18 min clip of my daughter's first dance recital on Vegas 9 Platinum Pro Pack, rendered it and went to DVDA (version 4.5). I start single movie, think I do everything right, it gets to the burn part and says it is 66% done and has been there for 25 minutes. It says the rendering and preparing are done and it is "Burning lead in" and it will take a few minutes. How long does this usually take?

There are up to three processes that need to take place in order to make a DVD using DVDA.

1. The video may need to be encoded if it is not already in DVD compatible format. That should not be a problem using Vegas Platinum to create the mpeg file.

2. Preparing the video, i. creating the ifo, bup and vob files. This might take several minutes, depending on the length of the video and the spec. of your computer.

3. Writing to the disc. The time taken will depend mainly on the size of the output files and the speed of the burner/disc combination. Typical times are in the range of 4 to 15 minutes.

Thanks. I'm going to try again later and let the thing run out for an hour if necessary. I've got a feeling that my laptop or the DVD-R that I'm using has something screwy. I'm also going to try and burn a dvd on my desktop computer and see if that makes any difference.
