how new is this?

VP 8 build 217 is behaving increasingly poorly for me lately. In one project it keeps telling me it can't open a video stream of a .png file I have but haven't used in this project and which doesn't appear in Project Media.

So I thought maybe there's a new build, and went to the download page. It's new and improved, and doesn't tell you--far as I can see--what build I'd be downloading. I haven't been there in a while: Is this new?

Man, I hate conspiracy theories, and all the worrying out loud guys have been doing here about Sony pulling the plug doesn't help. But this is just the kind of "diminished service" that goes on when there's a problem.

Anyone who's not sworn to secrecy know what's going on here? Not to stoke any fires, but they're going to have to pry VP7 from my cold, dead....

Damn. I just can't countenance the thought of working in clunky Frankenware like Premier or FCP.

217 is the latest build - it's working fine for many including me - it could be something to do with the file you're trying to import. Is it a still image sequence or just a single still - what resolution?
Describe exactly what you've tried so far.

It's just a small still--360 kb. It imports and plays just fine when I try to do that, but I've scoured the Project media list--it's not there. I imported it, left it in there for a while, then deleted it. Same deal

I'm pretty sure it is the project, not necessarily Vegas, but what do I do about it? there's currentls no indication the /png is in any way associated with the project, but it still complians, even when Vegas tries an automatic save. Tried saving under different names, but no soap.

. I suppose I could copy all the events in the project into another project, but I have a lot of track motion here and I'm not sure that would copy.

How do you know 217 is the latest? I can find nothing on the site to indicate that .

Thanks for your interest. I appreciate it.

So you've dragged it to the timeline but it doesn't appear in Project Media? That's very strange. If you like you can send the png to me & I'll try it here. (Click on my name to go to my profile, then clcik on my name there to send email.)

I base my statement that 217 is the latest on the fact that generally I download and instal each new build the day it is released.

Peter:

No. I didn't ever use it in this project. At least not that I recall, the project has been in development for a while. At any rate, It's not there now, unless it's hidden somewhere in the timeline. But it's not in the Project Media window. that's the worst of it. there's no reason this project should refer to it in any way. I'm going to rename the file and see what the project does about it.

Have you seen the current download page? It gives no indication of what version or build you're downoading.
