Nothing to do with Internet explorer as I use Chrome which was fine. Have you checked that you are running in administrator mode?

Thanks Andy, I forgot to  run as admin. What was strange was after running as Admin at first the program failed to connect to the internet at all and refused to do so until I changed my firewall settings even though the program was specifically allowed. Anyway, it is now registered. Cheers.
