Markers are a Timeline artifact. There is no way to attach one to an event because you could have multiple events on multiple tracks all at the same time position and there can only be one marker at that position. If you use Ripple Edit it can move markers with the event you are moving but that's about the only time a marker will follow an event. You can embed markers in a clip using the Trimmer but they will not be timeline markers. But this is useful for lining things up sometimes.

When it comes to audio though if you make the markers in Sound Forge they will be attached and visible inside of Vegas.

True. But you can "promote" the embedded markers to timeline markers by using the "Promote Media Markers" script.

I should have mentioned that this script also promotes Regions, as well as Markers, which can be useful sometimes..

But I've just noticed that the OP is using Vegas 5 and I'm not sure if the script was included with Vegas back then.
