You could be the first to find out and report back here!
I've not personally found very much information on how Nero handles DL - let alone whether it give you any control over the layer switch.
DVD Lab Pro with CopyToDVD does claim to support dual layer burning, and there are some hooks in Lab Pro that appear to be designed to give you a certain level of control over when the switch happens - however, in order for this to work the authoring app has to have a certain level of communication with the burning app, and it wasn't clear to me on reading the DVD Lab Pro stuff whether that communication actually existed with CopyToDVD. In any event there's certainly not any "cooperation" between DVDA and Nero, so I'd say, "No" you don't have any control over the switch with this combo.
I did have plans to be playing with this by now, but NewEgg screwed up my DL Burner order and I've yet to place my re-order (and my trial period has expired with CopyToDVD - wah, wah, wah).
Preparing a DVD in DVDA 1 or 2 that exceeds the single layer size limit of a DVD and attempting to burn this as a true DL DVD using any other software: This is not a supported feature of DVDA and will not work.
Dreg: I have just noticed DVDA2 and want to change it to my old software (an Ulead product) but I really want to use it for making DVD-9 discs.
So with a Sony recorder (I'll burn the disc with one of those) the DVD made from the Audio_TS and Video_TS will be playable on DVD players? Even with normal home theatre devices, not only with PC DVD Rs/RWs?
Dreg: Ulead also goes mad when I'm trying to burn a project larger than DVD5 from a folder.
So DVDA2 won't create even a folder larger than 4,5 Gb? Even if I change the burning settings in the preferences to show 8,3 Gb for the available space on the media? That is a big problem because only the video that I'm planning to put on a DVD is nearly 6,5 Gb!
It would be so nice if Sony could release an update that solves this problem...
Derg: I made a project with nearly 6 Gb of video (from ~2h of divx video) and DVDA2 worked fine at here as well. I've prepared the project for burning then used the trial version of Gear Pro DVD Mastering Edition and followed the instructions on it's webpage to set the layer breaking point. I haven't got the time to buy a DL DVD but it seems that everything is Ok with this method.
So it seems that my problem is solved.
Thanks for your help and advices!
