If you have a really fast machine you should get decent results with a number of products such as Camstudio etc.
The other way is to use a scan converter or a camera with Clear Scan. Biggest problem is PC screen is at MUCH hihgher res than video so detail is lost. You need to run at no more than 800x600 res on the PC to have half a chance of making it look good.

I like shooting directly from my LCD screen, bringing it into Vegas and editing. Some people use movie capture apps like the above mentioned camstudio or camtasia. I find that you lose lots of resolution when you save these as AVI's for editing in Vegas.

Rex, now that Camtasia allows MSDV files, it's not a loss, or not much of one. Certainly better than a scan converter, but not as good as shooting a screen, either.
