How to capture DVD Movie

Need help capturing DVD movie without loosing to much quility.
I want use some of the movie to mix with my own home movie for some mad effects.
and in particular capture frames from the movie.
if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I suppose there are rippers out there, but from what i've heard, they take a very very long time and leave you with enormously large files. What i've done is to send the S-Video output from my DVD player to the S-Video input on my A/D video converter, then capture scenes through firewire as DV. For stills you can either use the capture still function in Video Capture, or capture a video clip and use the save still button above the preview window in Vegas.
