Is there such an option in Vegas 4 as in Matrox rt2500? Can I capture two stereo streams embedded in a DV stream simultaneously? Where in V4 can this option be activate, if that's possible at all?
You can do it by capturing the second audio stream in a separate capture but I think you''l need to bring it in as analogue audio and then sync it up manually.
It's not that common to use the second pair of channels as it involves using rather low quality audio. Maybe you can do it via firewire and selecting the channels in the VCR and doing two passes, just not too certain about it. There's only one camera that I knwo of that'll record to the 4 channels so I guess there's not a big demand for it.
You also might want to try posting this in the Vegas Video forum. Only a few of us in this forum even know how to turn on a video camera, yet alone do any recording with it. Ask, us about how to capture audio from a DAT, DA-88, ADAT, or even a minidisc and we can respond to you here with more than you'll ever want to know on those subjects.
From a DV device, Vegas will capture an .avi file containing the video + stereo audio from channels 1&2 only.
A tool called Scenalyzer has been used by many to capture the "other" stereo pair in a DV file to a separate .wav file. Note that if you recorded 4 channels of DV audio, it'll be 12bit/32k.
Red: stop bein' cheap and go score yourself a DV camera. I'll give your personal support if its a Sony. If you don't have a DVD burner, get one of those too.
LOL!!! Finally got the DVD burner (Merry Christmas too me!!!). I doubt I'll ever burn any movies with it, unless someone gives me a one button push DVD COPY program. All that video stuff makes my head spin. NTSC/PAL, Full Screen/Wide Screen, Mpeg1/Mpeg2, 24fps/29.97fps, 640x480/HDTV, DVD region codes, RGB/Component/Composite,CMYK......yuck!!!! I'll leave that Video nonsence to all those right-side brainers, it makes my left-side brain hurt. Heck, my cheap ars finally purchased a digital camera. Kodak "Easy" share.....had my name written all over it. I looked at the better ones with all the bells and whistles and multiple video setting features, and my temples started to throb from an oncoming migrane.
Red,
I'm sorting of looking over the fence a bit having come from the video side and well so far I've got to grapple with AC3, DAW, MP3, PCM, DAT, ADAT, SPDIF, AESBU to say nothing of phantom power, cardiod, hypercardiod and furry condoms that need regular grooming.
But seriously, if you can cope with pro audio then video is a cakewalk. No ever seems to notice if the image is a bit off but the audio will have 'em walking out in no time.
Yeah, I'll hop in one of these days. I've been taking baby steps in that area. As long as there's a direct audio term comparison, usually I'm alright. Like .AVI is to .Mpeg, as .WAV is to .MP3. That's the nice thing about Vegas, even someone like me can edit video. I really have no problem editing video, I've actually done this a few times in Vegas. It's the knowing what I'm doing on the rendering side and putting it onto a VCD or DVD, so that it looks good is the problem I always have. I never have this problem with audio. What you hear is what you get, when you burn it to CD.
