How to change Marker Numbers ?

will-3 wrote on 9/4/2003, 8:03 AM
Read previous post on this but didn't get/understand the answer.

-My markers read... 6 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5
-Of course, marker 6 was the last I put in... and yes, I forgot it until last.
-I have already named all clips with name and length & don't want to redo it all.

Is there a way to get the markers to renumber themselves 1-6??

thanks for any help.

Will

I know of no way short of deleting them and re-adding them. But, out of curiosity, why does it matter the number order? Any markers beyond 10 don't get numbered anyway. Plus, CTRL-ARROW will jump back and forth between the markers.

jetdv,

Just like to see things numbered as I plan to use them... Marker 1=clip 1, etc.

Poor planning on my part or I would have caught the first one first :)

But, I can certainly work around this using the marker names/titles.

Also, look at the View - Edit Details screen and tell it to show markers only. That will show them in order in a spreadsheet like grid.

Will, just curious here, but are you using the markers only to label your clips on the timeline? If so, try this instead: Options / Preferences / General -> Show active take name in events. This will automatically label the events for you without using markers. If you want to see more information than just the filename you can right-mouse-button click on the clip, choose Properties, and enter your own text for the Active take name.
