How to change Pitch without echo?

Hello. I'm wondering if there's a way to change the pitch of the audio track without the echo you get from using the Sony/Pitch FX. If I'm watching a video in VMS, I can increase that "Rate" bar in the bottom left to speed up my review. The pitch I want is just like the pitch when I speed up the "Rate". Is it possible to do with VMS? If I actually speed up the video (dunno what it's called, i CTRL+ClickDrag the track to make it smaller) the audio gets choppy.

Suggestions?

Are you trying to speed it up a lot?
Did you render a section to see what it actually sounds like?
Did you try different methods / presets in your audio event properties?

Fast reply, I rebooted my router, the page reloaded, BAM! :D

I'm not trying to speed up the video/audio at all, I'm just saying that when I am previewing (working on) a video in VMS I can click/drag the "Rate" to speed up the preview and the pitch of that preview at 1.5-2.0 that's what I'd like the audio to sound like when it's playing at a normal 1.0 speed. Does that make sense? Everything I type makes sense to me >.<

Like Alvin and the Chipmunks with no echo. So far I always get echo.

Dunno why I didn't think of this before... I want everyone to sound like they've been suckin too much helium.

Oh, the Elastique method will do this without changing your event length. It's in your audio event properties (VMS 10)..
