I tried to mix some video footage and some photo image in a project, is alright to burn into a st dvd but having problem in video format 1440x1080, I learn that i need to reduce the photo image size to 720, how do I do that? Is it true? If I reduce my image size to 720 to make a sideshow than i'll not able to have 1080 video quality? my video footage is 1920x1080 and photo images is 3200x2400.

The photo image does not fit into the tv box, I need to adjust it into as aspect ratio, if I don't do that there is some black background in it, what I like to know is there anyway I can change the black background in different colours?

Thank you.

There is no need to resize your pictures, unless you have problems rendering your movie. Make sure you rightclick onthe preview window and select 'scale video preview' and 'simulate device aspect ratio'.
If you still have problems, resize your picture using your photo software to 1080x1920 pixels.
If necessary, put your photos on the top track and add background on the track beneath, using a 'media generators' to get rid of black bars.

Use the tip here:

Resize to project properties size.

Sounds like great advice from both replies so far.

What I'd add is that if you want flexibility while you are editing and you are willing to give up some rendering and preview speed, you might want to keep the images as-is. Then, once in Vegas, go to the Pan/Crop window, right click on the image, and choose "Match Output Aspect". This will allow you to avoid the black bars, and you can also pan/crop to the best part of the image and/or do the "Ken Burns" effect to move around within the image. Resizing it up front could conceivably lose quality, and could limit you on your ability to zoom/pan around the image.
