How to create 'a blast from the past'?

Anyone remember that way cool FX from the 70s when you pointed a camera at a monitor to create video feedbacK?
With all the modern technology at our disposal I can't figure out how to create that in Vegas. OK, you could fudge it with lots of tracks but not quite the same thing.
Or maybe that's one FX that deserves to go the same way as platform soles and bell bottoms.

Can one of the Pixelan plug ins do that ? Seem to recall something like it. But I DO know what you're talking about.....pretty trippy effect.

Do you want the color loss like you would get pointing a camera at a monitor?
"Infinite room" I think was called.

Hadn't thought about that aspect but yes, you're right.
I also seem to recall them adding an FX into the chain so the images shifted in color at each 'reflection', or was it just the weed that made it look that way....

Please don't anyone sweat over this, I was just curious, I hear people talk about every FX known (and some that should never be) to man, but that one never comes up.

i've always jsut pointed the camera at the tv/monitor. :D If you have a monitor with a preview/video thru (a TV monitor) you could hook the camera up to the monitor, the preview up to some type of recording device & then oyu'd get that effect.

that would be a cool fxto make. I could figure out how to do it in a 3d game but i'm not sure how i'd do it in vegas. I don't know the plugin sdk well enough. :)

If you pointed the video camera at a TV, you could get some bizarre fractal-like images appearing. You have to carefully set the camera settings though.
