How to create a scrolling watermark?

debojitacharjee wrote on 10/19/2022, 11:53 PM

I want to add a scrolling watermark of any logo or text over a video on the left side, which should appear after some predefined time intervals. I want to add this watermark to multiple video files in a batch process. Is that possible in Vegas Pro or are there any such third party software?

The preparation of the “slug” is totally doable in VP. The next stage, adding it within the batch render option…hmm..?

Is there any third party video converter that can add scrolling watermark in batch processing?

Since Vegas Pro doesn't have batch rendering in the first place, why not create a looped (or whatever) alpha motion/timed watermark and add it to the top video track on all Vegas Pro projects to which you want it added and render each project with the watermark embedded in the render.

HitFilm Pro has batch rendering capability but I'm not aware that any overlays can be added to its batch rendering process - it just lists a number of rendering projects to be done and renders them one-by-one.

Sure it does! Via scripting!

And a script could easily open a project, add a new video track on top, put the created watermark on that track as desired, and then render it out and close the project without saving it.

But for that specialized operation, the script would need to be written. But I could easily create a tutorial on how to do that. As for batch rendering, that tutorial is already there!

The above tutorial will go through multiple projects. Once the project is loaded, here's how a new track can be added:

And then adding new events to that track (a 3-part series):

It's possible to do batch rendering in VP16 by creating regions and selecting tools>scripting>batch render>render regions. I am looking for a video converter with a scrolling watermark feature because rendering on VP16 takes more time than video converters. I use VP16 to create the master video and then use a video converter to create it's various formats as per the playback requirement, and that's why I want to put the watermark on the final video.

Ok, if you follow the script tutorials, they show how to load a project, add a track, add the watermark (presumably it's now a separate file) to that track, and then render to any format you like thus "converting" it to a new format and adding the watermark.

I don't want to do that using VP but looking for a third party video converter.

@debojitacharjee - I’ve got to ask, “why”? What advantage would you get from a “third party video converter.”? I’m curious.

That's because a video converter works faster than VP16. I have used VP16 on a celeron PC and found most video converters to be faster while converting between formats than VP16.
