I am working on a documentary and I can’t figure out how to create little name graphics when trying to introduce people in my doc. I want to create something like this.
The text will be written like this (I’m doing a football documentary)
But, I want to be able to fade it on and off and not have the graphic block out part of the video if that makes sense.

This is a little slap dash but I just showed you one way to make the text and a few ways to make a little line block thingy without using masking. This should get you started.

No problem, it's fun for me. Oh to fade something in an out drag from the corners. You can do this easily on all the elments at once by highlighting them with the selection tool. Also one quick easy way to add some visual flair to the fade is to drop the cross effect blur transition onto it.
