Automation... Many reverb plug-ins have wet and dry volume parameters. If I understand your desire, create envelopes so the dry volume fades out and wet volume fades in. The Magnus Smartelectonics Ambience reverb plug-in has the necessary parameters and sounds very good if do not have suitable reverb already

You can also get the same effect by assigning a reverb plug-in to Assignable Audio FX, and choose the "Pre-fader" mode for the send and insert an automation envelope on the aux send. You can use the track's volume envelope to fade the dry signal if needed.

Well as the trained audio engineer around these parts - perhaps I can help. To create a verb tail, you have a number of ways to do so - and it depends on the verb itself. You can increase the size of the simulated room and decay time would be the easiest way in my opinion. Be aware though, of truncation...this is when going from one recorded digital medium to another. So think 32bitfp which is the nominal recording bit depth these days and the distribution medium of 16 bit. You lose or truncate the verb tail if you don't set up the bit depth and dither properly.

Hope that helps
