How to 'dim' an Overlay?

Putting together a narrated project
- that will contain a section that is a series of still images.
- there will be a main background image...
- other images will be on a track above that and when shown will feature a small graphic object... with the rest of the image transparent...
- after the object is discussed we want to dim it so it is still visible but in the background...
- then we introduce another forground object for narration...
etc
The Question: After an object is discussed how can we dim it to the background?

Thanks.

Just pull down the opacity. If you look at the top of the track when an event is present your cursor will change and if you left click and hold you can bring down the opacity.

What I would do is split the event where you want the fade to begin and lower the opacity to the level wanted and crosfade the two events (two now because you split it).

Thanks.
Actually I knew that... at one time :) Hadn't used it in awhile and just needed a little reminder and I thank you for it!
